Family Fun DAY at Busy Barns Adventure Farm

“Look it’s Pikachu!” Exclaimed my 6-year-old grandson.  The anticipation of seeing all the new baby animals was heightened by our greeting from the larger-than-life painted hay bales that look like the characters from one of my child’s favorite characters.  These are the first of many throughout the farm, and none of them disappoint.

Look it’s Pikachu!

You have so many choices, where to start?  The baby goats greet us right away, just as excited to see us (well for the bag of food we were surely going to share).  From there, the baby bunnies, chicks, ducks and so much more.

Busy Barns Adventure Farm is family-owned; they have four Sundays in the spring to see the new babies.  However, that is only the beginning.  Throughout the farm, there are play areas with balls, tires to climb, the largest slide (if not for all the animals I have no doubt we would have spent most of our day here), tunnels, a park area with swings, and monkey bars.

The menu for our lunch was simple but perfect, a hot dog (which was larger than my grandson’s mouth) for the little guy and a cheeseburger with french fries for me.  We added a Pepsi to share as this grandma needed the energy to keep up with the little guy who I call my little energizer bunny.

After a very quick lunch, you can head to the barn where you will find kittens, the largest bunny you will ever see, pigs, a donkey, a pony, and the excitement of watching sheep get sheared.  Attached was a little enclosed area where the baby goats are running free.  Watching them run and leap was interesting on its own, but you are also able to pick them up!  A welcomed surprise for any animal-loving child.

If you’re lucky you can convince the little ones to take a break from all the animal excitement long enough to enjoy a short hayride around the outer area of the farm.  For this adventure, your little one will get to collect plastic eggs to play “Plinko” back in the main farm area.  One must not forget the bag of candy given as we know the children need the sugar. (You may want to sneak a piece or two for the energy to continue because the adventure does not end there.)

Another barn set up with two slides one higher than the other is a favorite.  The owners have thought of everything, you can also jump off a hay bale onto a bouncy platform surrounded by hay bales for soft landings.  Where do they come up with these ideas?

Busy Barns Adventure Farm also opens in the Fall where you can run through the corn maze, take the hayride to the pumpkin patch, and even pick out the perfect pumpkin.  A day here will never disappoint, and the memories made will last a lifetime.  (Bonus: the fresh air will wear off some energy, hopefully, more the children’s than yours.)
